Health & Safety Officer - Heavy Civil - 10 on / 4 off Rotation

Location: West Scotland Entered: 06 Nov 2017	Salary: £40,000 + Package Duration: Permanent

Who you’ll be working for: With almost 50 years experience working on heavy civil projects, offices across the UK and Ireland, 6 years of pipelined work across Scotland, the successful Health and safety officer will work on large heavy civil projects on a permanent basis, mainly across the South West of Scotland. This role will be based in Scotland, on a 10/4 rotation, with travel and accommodation provided, along with continual training and development plans for the successful candidate. What you’ll need to have: The successful candidate will have a Health & Safety related qualification (Degree or NEBOSH) and IOSH Membership preferred, with experience working with a fully integrated management system across all standards. Ideally having 5+ years H&S experience within the civil engineering industry, working with a main or large sub contractor on large scale civil projects. What you’ll be doing: The safety officer is responsible for ensuring that all site workers follow safety rules and regulations, adopting, implementing and assisting in the continual improvement of the companies IMS. The successful candidate will form part of a growing H&S Team with the opportunity to progress their career path within the company. Key duties: Reporting to the site project manager, you will work on various heavy civil projects across the South West of Scotland, including Roads, Water, Gas pipelines, Bridges, Wind farms, etc. You will be happy to travel and work on a rotational basis, were travel and accommodation will be provided, were some sites will be based in remote locations. The role includes: Effective communication and implementation of site rules & company health and safety policy Follow safe working practices and procedures, including receiving near miss reporting and logging of all incidents Recognising hazards and risks and reporting them, developing safe systems of work from risk assessments and implement safety behavioural methods of work. Timely and accurate administration of Incident reporting process and safety related action Carry out risk assessments. Carry out audits across all standards, experience within this field essential Some Experience of environmental management would be advantageous Familiar with the Considerate Constructor Scheme would be an advantage What you’ll get in return: An excellent package will be put in place for the successful candidate, with a salary that reflects your experience and abilities to date.
