Quantity Surveyor - Civil - Roads

Who you’ll be working for:
A successful, award winning and well recognised civil engineering company across the UK, Ireland and Europe, who have recently secured a large road project in Cambridgeshire, have a current opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team on a permanent basis, working initially on this project.

With the UK head office based in London, working on a range of live projects, including highways, energy, waste water, water and waste management.

What you’ll need to have:
The successful candidate will have a degree / HNC in a construction / quantity surveying discipline with 5 years + heavy civil experience working on projects from £0.5M up to £20M, with proven experience as a Quantity surveyor / Estimator.
Preferably you will have experience in highways and design and build projects, previous experience with evaluate estimating software would be preferable but not essential, along with advanced knowledge of Microsoft office package.

What you’ll be doing:
The Quantity Surveyor is required to work within a highly-motivated team, delivering both design & build and traditional projects covering a range of civil disciplines including highways, energy, waste water, water and waste management, industrial and commercial projects. The successful candidate will be expected to work on their own initiative, but proactively with a team to successfully deliver various projects.

Key Responsibilities :
  • Oversee all commercial aspects of the contracts, support site staff in understanding the contract documents in order to satisfy the clients requirements and maximize revenue/variations.
  • Commercial feedback into internal systems, and management of internal systems for example Sage. 
  • To provide estimating or receiving training in estimating in order to perform this function for the business, preparation of tenders as appropriate. 
  • Provision of commercial/productivity information to Senior Management Team in order to aid decision making
  • Assist with or prepare monthly applications 
  • Working closely with Finance & Commercial in maximizing profit on the contracts
  • Reviewing weekly productivity of teams. 
  • Undertaking interim and final valuations for works complete 
  • To manage work in progress and ensuring debtors are kept to a minimum.
What you’ll get in return:
You will be offered a fully negotiable attractive package, with a basic salary between £50,000 - £70,000, including travel and accommodation.
